LIFTERS (“TAPPETS”) – Hydraulic Lifters: Don’t bother trying to “rebuild” old lifters. Lif ter companies will not guarantee
lifters used with an old cam. Unlike GM & TRW which use check balls, Sealed Power & Elgin both use a flat disc which is better. Less valve
noise at start up, larger flow of oil for better control at high RPM. Lifter companies now stress DO NOT PRIME LIF TERS! Original lifters had
“deep dimples” where the push rod seated. Shallow dimples work fine, but now you have the choice.
