Spark Plugs
Spark Plugs – Choices!
1. All plugs are SOLD EACH. For original AC "FF" plugs, see page NOS-5 on website (seldom have).
2. The original "FF" plugs are threaded the full ½" reach. All others stop about 1 thread short.
3. HOTTER? COLDER? We normally suggest you start with the recommended plug for your engine. Many 80-95 HP owners
find they prefer the "44" range and some "44" owners drop to "43". The "42" was intended for "competition" (or very
wild engines). If your engine is "burning" oil, you may want to go to a hotter plug.
4. Resistor plugs decrease engine static on your radio and may be used with any engine and any plug wires.
5. All plugs listed are "COPPER CORE" except for the NOS AC.
6. Extended tips supposedly run cooler and cleaner as the gases can "flow around them" more.
Special Spark Plug Antiseize
Specially formulated for spark plugs. This is used on aircraft spark plugs in aluminum heads. The 4 oz. size
goes a long way; instructions say to use a slight amount on the second and third threads.

Ignitor vs. Ignitor II – See page 74 to order
The IGNITOR unit can be ruined if you leave the ignition on and the engine IS NOT running. The IGNITOR II protects itself. Most customers that have
run both units say they feel the IGNITOR II is worth the extra money – BUT WHY?
Ignitor: This replaces the points and when used with the 45,000 volt Crane "Fire Ball" Coil, delivers twice the voltage to the spark plugs. No
adjustments are needed and the unit is very stable. Fits inside the distributor.
Ignitor II: Same advantages as the IGNITOR. Plus, a microcontroller controls the dwell period for the best possible spark over the entire RPM range.
I asked "Just what does that mean to the average owner?" With stock points the dwell always stays basically the same. With the IGNITOR II the
controller varies the dwell over the complete RPM range.
AT LOW RPM – the dwell angle is decreased so energy in the coil peaks precisely at the firing time.
AT HIGH RPM – the dwell angle is increased, helping the coil perform better by increasing the available energy when you need it most (coil
saturation, burn time, etc.).
NOTE: You must order coil C11401, C11402, or C11403 (see page 75, #5, 6 or 7)
A FREE paper gives more information on both units: C34X 1 oz. FREE
