22. MUFFLERS: Turbo Note – 1962–64 style are oval and attached with a hanger and a strap. Most on the market have wrong dlameter inlet/outlet.
OURS ARE CORRECT.
The original 1965–66 style are a larger oval muffler with a bracket welded to the rear and the muffler
hanger bolts directly to the muffler. You can use a 1962–64 style on a 1965–66 to save $. If you do so,
use the regular muffler hanger C253R (#12, page 36) and strap. Also use a 1965–66 chrome tail pipe.
It wlll not look quite stock but is less costly. 1965-66 Turbo also see hanger (#25) below.
’62–64 Turbo Muffler

Now you can put an original style Turbo muffler on your ’65–66. Requires original style hanger (#25 below) and tail pipe

Repair your old hanger with a replacement rubber support square. Also order rivets or bolts.

29. HEAT SHIELD – MUFFLER: EXCELLENT REPRODUCTIONS
GM intended the heat shield to prevent muffler heat from af fecting the valve cover gaskets and cover. Not essential but suggested. Bolts to head and muffler hanger.
This is an excellent reproduction missing only the reinforcing stamping marks. Will not fit with Clark Valve Covers.
