CORD PARTS
Corvair Powered Cord 8/10
These were developed during the mid 60’s and received
a lot of attention in Road & Track, Popular Mechanics, etc.
The thermoplastic body panels were nearly 1/2” thick and
could withstand considerable impact. The complete power-
train was installed in the front with the transmission to the
front. They were available with the 140hp or 180 turbo-
charged engines and were designed to retail for around
$4,000. However, as is usually the case, the actual cost to
produce the cars was grossly underestimated. Retail
escalated quickly and the company went bankrupt after just
over 90 cars had been produced. There are a few minor bugs to the car but they are a blast to drive and get a lot of
attention! Maybe YOU can nd someone who will part with theirs; good luck!
Parts Availability – We hope to be able to add to the following list or at least keep most of the items available,
but if you own one of these cars, we suggest you buy your parts now as it will be hard to justify reproductions for such a
small number of cars. Some of the parts are from the original production and may be dusty or have surface rust.
Engine & Powertrain – Most of these parts are just stock Corvair; see our regular Catalog pages.
Parts Vary – Some parts & installations vary from car to car and may have been changed. If a part does not t
your particular car, NO Restock Fee, but you will have to cover return shipping.
