ENGINE SIZES
The following are the engine sizes (horsepower and cubic inch displacement) available by years. It is best to determine the engine size by the head
numbers, although originally they were usually designated by an emblem on the engine hood. No emblem was the lowest horsepower for that year.

500, 700, MONZA, SPYDER & CORSA
These were some Model designations for 1960-69 and these descriptions ONLY hit the high points.
500 – These were the cheapest Models. Always came with rubber mats, bench seats, and very little trim.
700 – These Models were 1 step up from the 500 and also came with rubber mats and bench seats but had a little more trim (this Model was not
offered after 1964).
LAKEWOOD – Corvair Station Wagon (1961-62) available as a 500, 700, or Monza (in 1962).
MONZA (900) – These were the top of the line (except for Spyder & Corsa). They usually came with bucket seats (although special bench
seats were available in some years). They always had carpets and special trim packages.
SPYDER – (Monza Spyder) – In 1962-63 this was an "option package" and in 1964 was considered a separate Model. It had the 150 hp.
Spyder motor (Turbocharged), "full instrumentation", all the "Monza" items and special emblems.
CORSA – This was the sporty Model for 1965-66 and was actually a separate Model as the "Monza" was never associated with the "Corsa"
designation although they were basically modified Monzas. They had "full instrumentation", special emblems, and trim (also silver
painted rear area).
ENGINE – All Corsas had either the "140" engine (140 hp. & 4 carburetors), or the 180 hp. Turbo engine (no longer called Spyder).
The 180 hp. was really only different from the 150 hp. by a slightly larger carburetor, but mainly by the larger internal
impeller and turbine blades.
WRONG!! – Please DO NOT refer to a 140 hp. – 4 carburetor as a "SPYDER" motor, as "Spyder" always means "Turbocharged".
"VANS" – "Van" is our term to refer to any of the following:
CORVAN (95) – Refers to the Corvair panel Van.
GREENBRIER – Refers to the "Van" with windows all around.
RAMPSIDE – Corvair pickup with a ramp on one side that lowered to the ground.
LOADSIDE – A Rampside but WITH NO RAMP!
DELUXE – This was a package of special interior and trim available on some of the "Van" Models.
F.C. = (FORWARD CONTROL) – This was a Chevy term that applied to all Corvair "Van" Models indicating that the Driver and controls were
"forward" of the front wheels.

How do you position a certain wire? Where do you aim the windshield washer nozzle (within 1/8")? Exactly where did Chevrolet install the factory
undercoating and how thick? How about how much to torque the glovebox screws! Do you position your grommets so the slit is in the correct position?
