It's Confusing – What Do I really need?!
CAST PISTONS, HI-TECH, FORGED, (our CAST are BETTER than the original and originals were good for 50,000-100,000+
miles). Hi-tech pistons are designed to be stronger than cast & almost as good as forged. Forged are acknowledged as the best pistons. We offer
Sealed Power® & Clark forged (forged pistons are the very best).
ENGINE CYLINDERS – NEW FULL FIN or BORED? NEW FULL FIN CYLINDERS using newer casting methods are
superior to the old cylinders, with a slightly thicker wall and "full fins" for more strength and additional cooling. You can also order a standard size or
oversizes.
BORED CYLINDERS: We have bored over 30,000 cylinders. They arrive looking like factory new but oversized will have slightly thinner
walls than the oversized full fin.
DUAL BRAKES: It is certainly worth considering adding dual brakes to your Corvair. Our dual master cylinder kits are complete and an
easy installation and should always leave you with at least front or rear brakes!
DISC BRAKES are great, but do you need to spend $500+? I've found for "normal" driving, stock Corvair brakes that have been completely
rebuilt are fine. If you are hi-performance, do a lot of mountain driving or just have to have the best, certainly consider them.
HI-VOLUME OIL PUMPS? If you are racing, have worn cam journals, a hi-performance engine, or larger oil cooler, you should consider a
hi-volume pump. If not, a stock pump will be fine, but keep in mind that oil pumps do wear. We have stock oil pumps – C1395T
RUBBER BUSHINGS? URETHANE, NYLON? Original style rubber suspension bushings usually lasted 15-25 years! On most
of them the thickness of rubber is only 1/8"–1/4". For the average driver, stiffer materials are not needed. For maximum handling, please consider our
performance bushings on page 167B. However, our NYLON drag link bushing is definitely MUCH BETTER than the original rubber for any Corvair car.
CONVERTIBLE DRAIN PLUG
They cover a hole in the floor under the rear armrest panels
& keep dust and water from coming in while allowing any
water out. We reproduced the 65-69, but it will fit 62-64 (they
were just a little longer, but otherwise identical & can't be
seen from under the car). The old ones are usually missing or
deteriorated. 2 needed per car. C399 2 oz. ea.
