422Building #4 - Sewing and EmbossingAbout 80% of this building is involved in production of our show winning interiors. We do everything ourselves (except make the vinyl!). The sewing section is about 15 ft. x 60 ft. with shelves and shelves of binding, thread, and listing (& our sewing staff).Donna says she loves to come to work, every day is a challenge and she feels so proud when completed upholstery sets are on the way to the customer.Most upholstery shops stress speed, Clarks stresses quality.VINYL & HEADLINERrolls must be on racks to store it correctly.We have OVER 600 rolls on racks attached to the walls. This photo shows just 24!Tooling to produce a left 1965 door panel. It would probably cost about $15,000-20,000 to replace this tooling.Pearl is getting ready to make an original fabric upholstery set. At $100-200 per yard, she'll double check before cutting!Cal, Sr. and Anna checking a pattern. Circa 1990. Each original interior has been carefully taken apart and documented in a binder. Everything has been recorded since 1982, right down to the type of stitching to use.Anna led our upholstery department for over 18 years until her retirement in 2004.
