CORVAIR ENGINE to VW TRANSAXLE ADAPTOR KITS
You can double both the horsepower and reliability with any VW type transaxle or 911/912 Porsche by adapting a 2.7 liter Corvair
engine to it.
CORVAIR ENGINE ROTATION vs. VW – Requires changes depending on style transaxle because the Corvair
engine rotates opposite that of the VW.
OLDER – "SWING AXLE" VW TRANSAXLES – DO NOT have I.R.S. (independent rear suspension).
There are 2 CHOICES:
I.R.S. Type VW TRANSAXLES – If your transaxle is from an I.R.S. (independent rear suspension) vehicle then you
only HAVE 1 CHOICE to compensate for the Corvair engine rotation. (You CANNOT "flip" the differential ring gear).
"MID-ENGINE" CONFIGURATION with VW TRANSAXLE
A few people want a "MID-ENGINE" set up with a VW transaxle and the Corvair engine towards the front of the vehicle ("MID-
ENGINE").
