Tie Rod, Ball Joint, & Pitman Bushing Tool: This forked tool will easily "pop" out tie rod ends, idler arms, and ball joints. See page 337-338.
1. Idler Arms: Can cause squeaks and shimmy. See also #2 & #3.
GM: Original equipment; NO grease fitting.
NON-GM: Grease fitting for longer life.
1960: Some 1960's used a different idler arm. If yours has a removable bushing where
it attaches to the center relay arm, order a C178 bushing to replace it. (see #4, page 156)

1960-69 Cars REBUILT ONLY: Sandblasted, painted black and new bushing installed. Your old one has a refundable core value if not bent and returned to us postpaid.
With stock rubber bushing C1666R 10 lbs.
With nylon bushing C1666N 10 lbs.
1960: If yours does not look like #3 in diagram, DO NOT order.

BUSHING
Pitman Arm: Rubber with a bolt – as shown. Installation requires removal of drag link. Be sure to remove old bushing “shell.”
Original Rubber – 1960-69 C178 12 oz.
Nylon – 1960-69: Complete but with Longer Wearing nylon bushing. C178N 12 oz.
Nylon Bushing Only: Can use if old shell and bolt are still good. You can get this bushing and easily install it
"in the car" in just a few minutes .
NOTE: Due to various shells and bolts sold over the years, WE SUGGEST THE WHOLE UNIT (C178 or C178N),
but the nylon bushing may work with your unit. C178NB 4 oz.
Nut – Slotted C726 2 oz.
5. Pitman Arm (Steering Arm): Steering box to drag link. See USED page 365.

6. Bolts: For tie rod sleeve clamp (bolt, lock washer, nut) – 4 needed, sold each.
"Gr 5" C2146 2 oz. "Gr 8" C2147 2 oz.
7. Rubber Seal: Tie rod ends inner or outer (come with tie rods). If tie rods are good but seals are bad – REPLACE!
May vary slightly from original. 1960-69 C637 2 oz.
8. Outer Tie Rod Ends: Check yours for looseness. Fit either side.
